Man, 19, arrested after woman’s body found in a stream in Tamworth
A teenager has been arrested after a woman’s body was discovered in a stream in Tamworth, near Birmingham.
Staffordshire Police have arrested a 19-year-old on suspicion of murder who remains in custody.
The woman was found by the emergency services after police were called to Roman Way, near to Wigginton Park.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called by Staffordshire Police to reports of a patient in the water near to Edgar Close, Tamworth at 9.10pm last night. On arrival we discovered one patient, a woman.”
Two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended, but nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed dead at the scene.
On Friday, Forensic officers in white overalls could be seen in the area of Wigginton Park, just off Edgar Close, as they continued to work in three areas as police officers stood guard.
The entrance to the park has been cordoned off to the public and police have increased their presence in the area as inquiries continue.
